Good morning.
Scripture gives her exactly one verb at the foot of the Cross. Not fled, not collapsed, not spoke. She stood.
Yesterday's feast was the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Today's follows it on purpose — the Church places Our Lady of Sorrows the very next day, because her sorrow follows immediately from the Cross in the calendar the same way it followed immediately in history.
The devotion to Mary's sorrows is old, present in Catholic piety from early on, but the feast's modern shape traces to the Servite Order — founded in the 13th century by seven men who took meditation on Mary's sorrows as the center of their charism, believing they had been asked to do so by Our Lady herself. The feast entered the Roman calendar formally in 1814. Three years later, Pope Pius VII — recently freed from exile under Napoleon, and crediting that release to Mary's intercession — extended it to the universal Church. Pope Pius X later fixed its permanent date at September 15.
Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows
There stood. That is the entire verb Scripture gives her in this scene — no recorded words, no collapse, no flight. Just presence, sustained, at the one moment presence cost the most.
Paul's epistle, the same day, describes the Church as one body with many members, each necessary, none replaceable: "For as the body is one, and hath many members; and all the members of the body, whereas they are many, yet are one body, so also is Christ." Mary at the Cross is that truth in its hardest form — she could not fix what was happening. She could only stay. Some kinds of belonging to another's suffering have no other verb available.

A quiet pullback for the index, but a real breakout underneath it. CrowdStrike (CRWD, Information Technology) broke its 52-week pivot on a 177% volume surge, score 100, RS 95 — genuinely actionable, not a watchlist name waiting on confirmation. Marathon Petroleum (MPC, score 100, RS 95) remains on watch. LifeStance Health (LFST), already an open position, is up modestly and still well short of its first pyramid trigger.
